Baking powder is a combination of baking soda and an acid:
This means baking powder is already ready to react when moistened, while baking soda needs an acidic ingredient to activate.
To substitute:
If you need to replace 1 teaspoon of baking powder, use 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar (or another acidic ingredient like lemon juice).

I am new to your page..actually I just happened to see this recipe while scrolling through facebook. I have to tell you i thought there is no way this is going to taste like a cheeseburger, it’s going to be a glorified egg bake… my apologies..THIS RECIPE BLEW MY MIND! Full of flavor! I just made this. My husband is diabetic and I made this for him.
HOWEVER!!!!!! This is absolutely delicious. I did not add the optional ingredients but this recipe needs nothing else. It is moist, has a tremendous taste, and can be made in one pan??????? WOW!
