I just found this recipe yesterday and I've already made two batches! They are PERFECT and so easy to make! I read on another website that cutting the butter into the dry ingredients is super fast in a food processor, and the result makes for a quick prep time and these awesome scones in 30 minutes from start to finish. I added a dash of cinnamon to add some light sweetness in the second batch. Seriously the best scone recipe I've found. Thank you for sharing! :)

Or just a gluten free mix from Bob's Red Mill should work too. But yes oat flour would work nicely I think.

I should be able to use buckwheat and/or oat flour to make it wheat free. :)

The local diner has a chocolate chip scone that I have been wanting for my birthday since I tried it this past fall, but I have recently gone sugar and wheat free. This should fit the bill. Pinning for later...my birthday is in August, if I can wait that long! Thank you for posting!

I've made quite a few recipes subbing out butter and oil for applesauce such as my banana bread, brownies and even cookies but I have not tried that with these scones so I can't tell you if the result would be up to par.

Could you sub applesauce for the butter and egg? I am just starting to swap out ingredients but have been doing that in pancakes for the last few months and it works great. I have never baked with Applesauce though.
