This is all so true. I love my food scale, measuring cups, calorie book, Calorie Count web site....all of it. I am eating healthy, eating less and, as of this morning, I am 77 pounds lighter. It is truly the only way to do it.

Same here. A few days ago I hiked 6 miles, tracked my food after the fact, woke up the next day and had gained 2 pounds!!! Needless to say, I am back to measuring. Portions , second to tracking, are so important. I can't kick the sugar habit, but after losing 50 pounds, I sure don't want to have to do it again. Glad I found your blog. I need all the help I can get, lol.

I don't weigh and measure, but about five months ago I started using a smaller plate at dinner. I slyly did it for my husband as well. I love the fact that I can still eat a whole plate of food and get that mental satisfaction, while knowing I'm eating far less. Even my husband has decreased his portion sizes.
I find it funny that if we put big plates on the table by accident, then we are back to eating bigger portions instantly. It must be like running - 20% effort, 80% mental.

I completely agree. Without limits I could seriously eat an entire watermelon. Healthy or unhealthy I can overeat any food I love.

And the food scale truly can be surprising. For example I'm always pleasantly surprised at just got many strawberries I can eat for so few calories but horribly dismayed when I realize how tiny 2oz of pasta or 1/2 cup of rice is.

I measured and weighed everything for years but when I stopped I put on a lot of weight. Now mine was coupled with some personal struggles as well, but not weighing and measuring my food was a big thing. I've been struggling lately because I kee thinking I don't want to have to do it all the time but I'm coming to realize I'm not exactly trustworthy with guesing and measuring my portions so I'm working back towards the measuring/weighing mind set because it truly does work. :)
