Just found your website and have been eating gluten-free and lactose-free for a short time only. I am making your banana muffins right now, they smell great. I never have heard of egg whites in a protein smoothie. Is it safe to drink the egg yolk or egg whites? I cannot find dehydrated egg whites where I live. Thanks for all the great help!

I make a strawberry coconut protein smoothie, but I use Sunwarrior protein powder. I keep cartons of egg whites in my fridge all the time, but have never put them into smoothies. It weirds me out a bit. I know it's safe, I'm just not sure what it would be like in my drink. But maybe I should be a little more adventurous!

Hey Brenda, I actually looked up how to pasteurize egg whites, cause it's too pricey for me to buy them done, and it's easy. So I will be saving money.....nice

This looks delish! I had never added egg whites to my smoothies til I found your site. But now, I LOVE it! The protein benefit is great and you can't taste it at all. I agree, the key to a filling smoothie is the protein! Thx for another great one :)

For your consideration..........
I have learned that raw egg whites block the absorption of biotin in the body and that they should only be eaten cooked.
I have also learned that the yolk is an awesome protein and is not "bad" for cholesterol unless it is cooked..... then it becomes oxidized. Raw it is harmless in that way.....
So in smoothies, I use raw egg yolk.........adds creaminess... tons of good protein and vitamins and does not alter the taste

For cooking eggs...........the best and healthiest way is cooking "over easy" so the whites are cooked and the yolk is still runny. Really great for dipping hot buttered toast! LOL

Just my thoughts................
