In reply to <a href="https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/sugar-free-flourless-high-protein-brownie-mug-cake/comment-page-1/#comment-978754">Lenore Ashton</a>.

Hi Lenore, I think there may be a little confusion between net carbs and sugar. On a keto diet, we typically track net carbs, not grams of sugar alone.

This recipe has 8g total carbohydrates and 4g fiber, which means it comes to 4g net carbs per serving (8g total carbs - 4g fiber = 4g net carbs).

The sugar listed in the nutrition facts comes from naturally occurring ingredients like the Greek yogurt—not added sugar. Since this recipe contains no added sugar, those naturally occurring sugars are already included in the total carbohydrate count.

At just 4g net carbs, this brownie mug cake fits very well into a keto lifestyle for most people, especially if you’re aiming to stay around 20–25g net carbs per day.

I hope that helps clarify it!

Hi Brenda, love your recipes. I’m having a bit of a problem understanding your nutritional breakdown. So if the total carbs are 8grams and the fibre is 4grams surely the sugar would then be 4grams? Sorry to be picky but I’m doing Keto and a 4gram treat/snack would be too high for a 25gram daily sugar limit.
