Thank you so much for sharing your story and being open to try different things to see what works for your body. Yes my cravings have completely disappeared but I continue to eat very low carb because I find the more whole food carbs I eat like, veggies, fruit, the more I want, so I do limit and about one day a week I allow myself a higher carb day. But I stick to no processed, packaged foods, even those that say keto. I wish you much success going forward!

Hi Brenda,
Very happy I found your site. I have been searching for that answer for many years. Many doctors who used to be called alternative doctors finally found a platform on youtube, they have been embraced by millennials and gen-Z. They are no longer frowned upon. Over the last 7 or so years I have watched so many vids and figured out who was telling the truth and who was selling themselves. So I have about 6 people I follow and they are brilliant. However they don't always share the same methodology to getting healthy. All the good ones agree about no sugar. I have known that since my 30's (I'm now in my late 50's) Some of them (mindboggling) will even admit when they have been wrong about something and give you their updated information. But it's still confusing for instance one doc might explain that no sugar low carb keto is great not just for losing weight but it stops most inflammation which seems to be the cause of most illnesses. The liver is meant to burn fat not sugar.
But one doc says it's ok to eat fruit, another says "it's still frutcose, no good". And one doc I follow who got me into ketosis about 5 years ago by eating high healthy fats, extremely low carb and low protein. It worked, I stopped eating sugar and lost about 14 lbs. of deep belly fat. That also involved intermittent fasting. However unlike you, my cravings never went away, don't know why. So I messed up and introduced junk to my body again. I'm doing much better now but the doctor I just mentioned, now he only eats meat. His logic is accurate, no sugar no carbs. But eating lots of meat can cause different cancers, and other problems. My stomach doesn't do well with meat, so I cannot do what he is recommending. Another doc, a truly brilliant very accomplished doctor insists that the most important way to take care of stomach and microbiome is lots of fiber ever day, to feed the intestinal flora and to protect the liver (turns out that healthy fiber really does that). But then I have to eat pears and raspberries, blueberry's, and chia seeds and a variety of legumes and turmeric etc. Well now I'm finding out that the all are medium to high carbs.
So I'm trying like you said to find out what is right for me. So your information about the about sugar v. carbs is wonderful and you have recipes. My wife passed and I am teaching myself to cook, not very good at it yet. ( I can make a decent complete!!) Anyway I am going to keep learning and the goal is no sugar, get down to 20 to 30 carbs a day. That is my long term goal. When I was doing keto I didn't feel my arthritis very much at all and my knees didn't hurt so I believe in the 'inflammation problem' completely. I am going to try some of your simpler menu items. Thank you for your easy to digest explanation about sugar v carbs. It helps. Nice to meet you. Your new follower, Michael

Brenda: I came across your blog when searching for the difference between Sugar Free and low carb. Thank you for the excellent explanation. My hubby has type 2 diabetes and battles with his "want for sweets" nightly. I have GERD and have determined that added sugars really aggravate it. I would love to be able to eat low carb, but cannot get past breakfast. I only eat yogurt, bagels, oatmeal or English muffins. The thought of eggs, bacon and cheese in the morning turns my stomach. It sits in my stomach like a ball of grease. What else can I do for breakfasts that would carry me until lunch. Thanks so much...

Brenda,
I recently came across your youtube videos and then your Facebook page. I have tried several of your recipes - today the Blueberry Cream Pie. I liked it as is, but thought I would like it frozen - sure enough, after freezing a few hours, I had a piece and liked it even more! I'm trying to start counting carbs, but somehow with all the recipes I'm trying, I have had days where I went up a pound instead of down. As 2020 starts tomorrow, I am going to try harder to stay at 20 carbs a day.
I really like the recipes I've tried from your site and also those from Cooking Keto with Kristie. I will look at some of the others you have listed - just having variety really helps stick with this WOE!
Thank you for all the work you do to try out recipes - it saves me money!
