Hi Brenda, Would it be possible to include your recipe for "healthy pumpkin pie custard" in our church cookbook? If so, how would you like me to note who it came from? Thank you. I just read about your experience with the Prism program, and I'm going to check that out! Thank you!
I am having a hard time getting over eating the coconut oil in candy. I made the peppermint patties but I just can't seem to get over eating the coconut oil! They look good and really they taste good but I keep thinking I am eating pure lard! How the heck can I get over this. I think I read where you said you even put it on your toast in place of butter. I love your recipes and am always eager to try something new but boy am I stuck with this of eating coconut oil. I use it for cooking and use it when we pop popcorn but I just can't get it (basically) straight! My daughter came over and I gave her a peppermint patty but I did not tell her what was in it because I knew she would have the same reaction that I'm having! Help!!
Hi Pat, I know this is an old post, but I thought other might think that way. To me, I think of the coconut fruit when I think of any coconut product. Coconut oil is so different from processed
oils! I love that I can rub it into my hands and arms if I get it on my fingers while cooking!
It is wonderful whether it is taken internally or externally. Here is a good site with a lot
of info on coconut oil, and where I buy mine:
My name is Isaac, and I'm working on launching a gluten free product. I came across your blog (huge and awesome btw!), and was hoping you would give me a minute or two of your time.
We are trying to launch the product on kickstarter, which you can see here:
Would you mind horribly if I were to send you some samples and if you liked them, help us get the word out?
We could even use your help with some other product development if it's something you'd be interested in. And any help or advice would be a huge deal to us. (you're kind of a rockstar in this area)!
I feel a bit silly saying this, but I posted some comments and also asked a question on stevia (powdered and liquid) today on your page in which you listed 10 tidbits about yourself. Wondering if you had responded, I have tried to find that page back and I can't! I have no idea where it is!
My question was, can I use 1 tsp of powdered stevia if the recipe calls for 1 tsp liquid stevia??? Thanks!
hi !!
i googled about sweeteners and found you! You recommend sweetleaf liquid drops ... i went to whole foods and the ingredients say "natural flavors". Did you find out what the natural flavors are? thank you
I just found your blog and love your recipes. Thanks for all the healthy and wonderful food and tips π I was hoping to see a baked doughnut recipe from you. All of the ones I find have a lot of sugar. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work
Hi! I love your story and information... Especially the meal planning with recipes! I have a question for you in regards to getting started to eating clean. I have a lot of weight I want to lose (about 50 lbs). I am on weight watchers and have that same problem with craving sugar. Do you recommend a detox or something to clean out your system prior to following your plan? Please let me know! Thanks in advance!
Ok, now I feel stupid! I never knew to tap a picture to see if a pin button shows up. I was looking for one next to the Facebook, twitter, etc. buttons. I'm on an ipad and it worked fine, once I had a clue! π
Hi Brenda! I absolutely adore your blog!! Thank you for posting all these recipes! I have a ginormous sweet tooth, that I'm trying to get rid of (or supplement with healthier choices), and your blog definitely helps!
I have emailed you twice and both have been returned. We would like to invite you to be a guest on our Family Food Experts radio show. Please advise me as to how to connect with you. Looking forward to hearing from you... for the health of families, e
Hi Brenda
Fisrt I have to say million thanks to you
Then i want to ask you if I would buy apressure or slow cooker
Which one do you prefer and which brand ?
Because if you now I love my kitchen π
Thank you Noha! I have an old slow cooker but it works good. The brand is Rival. If I were to need a new one I would want one that has a timer built in so you can set how long you want it to cook and keep warm.
I have a new pressure cooker, the brand is Splendid. I have a video using it so check the tab above under youtube videos to learn more about it. π
Thanks dear
But as I live in dubai I didn't find the rival just kitchen aid and arison so what do you think about them?
And for the pressure cooker tifal is it good?
Sorry am for annoying but am anew mom and anew kitchen lover π
And you incourage me a lot to get in the kitchen
Hello, I also have a lot a extreme amout of weight too.( I give you so much credit because I know how hard it was/ is to take it off and keep it off). And I have been trying find a healthy granola recipe. Hope you can help. Either for breakfast or for a snack when dont know what else to eat.
First of all I want to thank you for your devotion and time on this blog/website it is such a blessing... So I tried to find the grain sweetened chocolate chip at Whole Foods in Cranston and the one on Main St in ProvidenceI with no luck... So I went on Sunspire's website and they gave me Hannaford's as one of there distributors. So I headed to Taunton and I was able to find them in the Nature's section. Yayy!!!!
Would you be willing to share with me the brand of sweetleaf stevia that you use? I just visited iherb and there are many types/brands. It is a bit overwhelming to a newbie π
It's me again... I have tried to find many of the products that you have mentioned on the iherb site. It is so overwhelming. I know that all brands are not equal. The products are so expensive, I want to get the best one, and I don't have a clue. Please consider making a listing of the brands that you purchase, if you can. I was looking for succant, sweetleaf stevia, white wholewheat flour, and the grain sweetened choc. chips, and other products that I am not even aware of at this point. Any help that you can give will be appreciated.
Crystal
I love your blog. I was wondering if you had any quick and easy snacks for children aside from fruits veggies and homemade granola bars. I need something that I grab quick as we run out the door. thanks!
HOw about my Garlic Parmesan Chickpeas or Sweet & Crispy Garbanzo beans, or toasted Tamari almonds or No Bake Chocolate Coconut balls ( my oldest picky child says they are better then chocolate munchkins form Dunkin Donuts!)
Hi Brenda,
Thank you for such an informative and healthy sugar alternative website. A friend of mine referred your site to me and I have a question! I am currently a Splendaholic and recently began using Blue Agave Nectar as well. Now that I have better information on both of these products, I was given a bag of "Stevia Extract In The Raw". This "looks" like it may be good to use, however in the ingredients "maltodextrin" is listed along with Stevia Extract (Rebiana). What are your thoughts/concerns regarding this ingredient? Would you recommend using this product or steer clear? I am only guessing it would be better than Splenda, however, Splenda also has this same ingredient along with sucralose. I have checked out your site for Sweetleaf liquid stevia, but notice there are no large bags of powdered stevia for sale. Am I not looking in the right area? Thanks for your input in this manner! April
Thank you! I don't use anything that contains either maltodextrin, sucralose or rebiana which are used to help sweeten products. The Sweetleaf brand I use does not contain rebiana. I feel brands that contain it produce an aftertaste in their product. You can find a larger bag of powdered stevia through iherb.com and use my code YAJ035 and you will receive $5 off your first order.
I was wondering if there would be an easy way to put a link into your blog to "printer friendly" your recipies so they were easy to print. I just printed one, not thinking and it printed all the comments too. I love your recipies but I don't have time to write them by hand. I was just wondering π
jana

Hi Kirsti, you commented on my about page and I replied there. You need to google a stevia conversion chart for the exact measurements.

I want to be able to pin your recipes to Pinterest from your website. Can you add a button?
Brenda
It might not work if you're on an ipad or phone but there already is a pop up pin button on the left corner of each picture.
Valerie
Ok, now I feel stupid! I never knew to tap a picture to see if a pin button shows up. I was looking for one next to the Facebook, twitter, etc. buttons. I'm on an ipad and it worked fine, once I had a clue! π

no worries Valerie, in fact I'm glad you had that happen otherwise I wouldn't have known you actually can work the pin button from an ipad. Thank YOU!

So far I love the recipes I have looked at and plan to try some but a few of the links don't seem to be working.

Thank you! I have a granola recipe review I did form Tosca Reno's cookbook, the taste is fantastic. It was supposed to be granola bars but they fell apart and became granola for me instead LOL! https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/oat-granola-bar-recipe-review/

My post about https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/top-3-refined-sugar-free-sweeteners/ has them listed with links directly to stevia and sucanat.
I use Bob's Red Mill white whole wheat flour and as far as the grain sweetened chocolate chips, i have only found them at Whole Foods Market.

I was wondering if there would be an easy way to put a link into your blog to "printer friendly" your recipies so they were easy to print. I just printed one, not thinking and it printed all the comments too. I love your recipies but I don't have time to write them by hand. I was just wondering π
Brenda
I've asked my IT person to look into that! Hopefully soon!
Dawn
This is still happening! 112 pages for one recipe! Definitely NOT print friendly, Brenda. Just wanted to make sure you know.
Brenda
What recipe Dawn?
Julie
When you go to File, Print, select Pages and only print the first or second page and you won't get all of the comments.
