I found you through Google taking me to Pinterest. I'm very excited. My oldest daughter(7) loves sweets but when she was 2 1/2 yrs old we discovered she has a severe intolerance possibly allergy to processed sugar. She cannot have granulated sugar, HFCS, corn syrup, sucrose, or any other sneaky "sugar". We have had to learn the names of sugars, read labels and limit breads and pastas. She can have natural sugars like honey, molasses and pure maple syrup..and for some reason small amounts of brown sugar even though I know it is granulated sugar and molasses mixed together.. I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners but use them time to time. She doesn't get it regularly..not even weekly. More like special occasions. I'm looking forward to browsing your recipes and see what I can make for her.
I forgot to add that I also tried the recipe, chocolate fudge frosting to use with the brownie recipe and it was extremely bitter using the Sweet Leaf stevia packets and orange and green top liquid stevia. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
I do not know what I did wrong on the recipe , fudgy flourless chocolate brownies. I followed the directions and it came out really bitter. I used Sweet Leaf stevia packets and liquid stevia , the orange and green cap , white bottle .
What did I do wrong?
I have your sugar free mom cookbook but I can't find the sugar free ketchup you say that is in it. Would you let me know where I can find it. Thanks so much. Love your recipes.
The new cloud bread recipe on Pinterest might just be your new sandwich bread! It calls for 3 eggs, 2 T cream cheese, 1 T honey and 1/4 tsp cream of tartar.
I think you can find substitutions for any part of it that you are cutting out of your diet. Maybe not the eggs, as you beat the whites until stiff, and add the yolks mixed with the rest of the ingredients, gently folded in. Liquid stevia for the honey, and I bet there is a dairy free cream cheese out there somewhere.
I have the recipe in my "try this as soon as you buy cream of tartar" pile, so have not tried it yet. One thing I read was you can use them right away, and since it makes 10, if you leave them out for a (day??) you can then store them in an airtight container. Not sure for how long . Guess we can all test it out to find answers to these questions. I wonder if you can add things like caraway, sesame, or poppy seeds, so I might try a little of each on three separate rounds when I make these just to see if it is possible and if I like them.
One thing I like about cooking is the possibilities.... I might follow a recipe exactly the first time but after that it is open season on trying it different ways for me. I like to adapt to what I have on hand or that I need to use up immediately. I hate to waste food. Too many who don't have it. I grew up with a mom who didn't like leftovers, but cooked for an army, and threw out more than most families would eat at a meal. It never made a lot of sense to me, so I vowed to myself that I would not do that when I grew up!
I have just been told that I am pre-diabetic but I love sandwiches and pasta so what breads are out there other than wheat ( I hate the taste of most wheat breads in retail) that I can make sandwiches with? I also would like muffin tin recipes including chocolate cupcakes etc., I am trying to follow sites that help me to become sugar free but I love food!!! I am glad I found you!!! What cookbooks do you have that contain sugar free pasta sauce meals ?
Welcome Alice. I have many free recipes and you can just got to the search bar above and type in what you are looking for. My cookbooks are available in the SHOP tab, just click that to see them. I have some breads you might like, as well as an English muffin recipe that is amazing. Like I said, just type in bread in the search bar to find the recipes or use my recipe index and look in the BREAD category. Thanks for stopping by!
I have started out my sugar free journey too! Recipes are really helpful here.
I decided to write a few notes of my experience for myself and others to share as it may help hearing about out experiences. You can check it out here http://aratherweightyblog.blogspot.com.au
Hi Brenda, I have looked high and low for that bundt cake which is under your chocolate and peanut butter deserts in your latest email. I tried to get on to Parade.com and find it there as you stated. I don't see the recipe gallery on there. It was in there with one of your latest emails. It is a chocolate bundt cake with (it looks like) peanut butter cream in the center nd a chocolate drippy glaze on top.
Hi! I'm new to this site. I love it already, and I'm learning a lot. π The recipes are great for my family, as we have multiple health issues and food sensitivities. I do have one question: is there a nut-free recipe section anywhere? Thank you!
I am just so excited to find your website and sugar free recipes! I am supposed to be on a gluten free, dairy free and sugar free diet. Honestly the gluten and dairy are not that big of a deal but the sugar is extremely challenging! So to find so many great desert recipes that include all 3 is Awesome!
I do have one question. I have some Stevia drops and packets from whole foods that are probably 3 years old and past their due date. In your experience, is stevia something that can go bad? Would it be better for me to start a new?
Very excited to make some of these chocolate sugar free recipes, especially like the ones with 3-5 ingredients. Easy and accessible.
I am so thankful I found your site. I am needing to move toward a sugar-free lifestyle due to health problems. It was so overwhelming to think about making this change. I love all of the recipes on your site and plan to start putting them to use next week.
Wow! I made your sugar free/dairy free milkshake and it was AMAZING! As a diabetic, I try making my own sugar free desserts, and they don't usually turn out so well..... but your recipes are so delicious! Thank you so much:)
Hello, my husband and I have been diagnosed as Pre-diabetic so we want to be proactive and have altered our diet. Carb counting and reducing sugar considerably. I love alot of the receipes here but would prefer not to use Xanthan gum. Can i use cornstarch as a thickening agent in place of the the Xanthan gum in your receipes?
Konjac power or glucomannan is a wonderful thickener. It a fiber found in fiber section at the natural food stores. I have found it bottled as a powder and also as capsules.
Love your recipes! I'm excited for your lunchbox recipes too but I have a hard time finding them. If you could do a separate section for them on the Recipe Index that would be great. If possible... Thanks!
I have substituted 1 C. almond meal for 1 C. of the required flour in a pound cake recipe according to a Mark Bittman recipe. I then tried it
with a different cake , and it was delicious. Again, I substituted 1 C. almond meal ( Trader Joe's brand) for 1 C. whole wheat white flour. This was a tried and true family cake recipe and I always now use whole wheat white flour instead of unbleached white flour. Good luck experimenting.
I just "discovered" your sugar-free site. Two diabetics in this family mean that we need to count carbs,
and try to tame that sweettoothed dragon that we just cannot allow into our bodies.
Free tip to anyone who would like to establish a new kind of restaurant.
How about one that would cater to the control of carbs, elimination of both wheat and meat?
Know that by using portion control...that vegans, vegetarians, diabetics, and gluten-free sould be able to
dine together with a clever menu combining the best of good, wholesome ingredients. Somebody is going
to do it, and I am going to be among the first patrons with my daughter. Give this idea away to ANYONE!
Love your site and would love to be able to read the sugar detox section as well as I'm gathering info on how to be successful on riding sugar from my diet.!
Please Please add a section to the index for Dehydrator Tad-Bits. Hey, it's garden harvest time and there are just lots and lots of the zucchini, yellow squash, green beans, cucumbers, watermelon, etc. It sure is a dream come true to dehydrate in your dreamy sleep! Then wake up to pure deliciousness!

Thanx again, and I hope I am not being a pain in the you know what.

No don't use cornstarch..I am pre-diabetic and my dr says to stay away from it..
Donna
You can use arrowroot instead. I try to avoid all corn products.
Lori
My doctor said no corn. period. Including cornstarch. But I am a type 2 diabetic being treated (successfully, yay!!!) without meds, and I obey her.

Does anyone cook with almond flour or almond meal. How does it bake, thinking of using it in cakes and brownies?
Brenda
I can't use it in my recipes because my son has tree nut and peanut allergies.
karen+justinn
yes I use it all the time. like it a lot. just a little getting used to the consistency.
