Does the warmer weather make you crave cool iced coffee?
What would you say if I told you this yummy coffee frappe is only 12 calories??
I am not kidding!
Do you really know how many calories you are consuming when buying one of these at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts? Of course I must tell you!
- Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino® Light Blended Beverage Grande is 180 calories!!
- Coffee Frappuccino® Light Blended Beverage is 110 calories!
- Vanilla Bean Coolata, small is 420 calories!
Ok ok .....so I know what you are thinking right now. This can not be as good as these from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. I am definitely going to say that is probably true. I am not gonna lie to you and tell you this is BETTER than the above choices. You might even save up your calories to be able to indulge in one occasionally on any hot summer day. But if you are watching your weight like me and know how quickly the small choices in beverages can add up to a lot of wasted calories I think you will be loving this recipe!
My motivation in making this was also because I have a stomach issue when consuming cream or milk and when I do indulge in a coffee shop iced coffee I like it LIGHT, oh no not calorie light either. I am talking, " Can I have a little coffee with that cream?" Yeah, bad I know. Then my tummy suffers for it. So to be honest, I think my recipe here is WAY better than anything I could buy at a coffee shop!
You could make one of these every day and it won't spike your blood sugar and it's so low in calories it will easily fit into your weight loss plan. You can not however say that about a Starbucks or Dunking Donuts icy beverage!
- 1 ½ cups chilled brewed coffee
- ½ cup almond milk, unsweetened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups crushed ice
- Optional: ½ teaspoon liquid vanilla stevia
- Using a blender or food processor, blend all ingredients on high speed until smooth and foamy. You could top it with whipped cream if you like.
Can u make it like a mocha instead hot instead of cold?
Sounds like a good idea, I've not tried it, let me know if you do.
I tried this receipe yesterday. It was the perfect morning pick me up. And I had one of those plastic Starbucks glasses with the straw and put it there and took it with me to work. Next time I will add whipped cream. Brenda, you are awesome!
I just tried this today. Yum! I can't wait to try the vanilla.
SO glad you liked it Heather!
I just tried the vanilla today! Yum! It was perfect for this warm, beautiful day.
Thanks for come back here to share that, so glad you liked it as well!
Could you use skinny girl organic stevia instead?
The liquid one is good the powdered has extra additives I wouldn't recommend.
It sounds delicious! I don't have almond milk on hand, do you think it could turn out good if I use skim milk instead af almond milk?
no but you could try, I know I would hate it with skim.
Hey! I'm am sooooo thankful to have come across your page. What a blessing, thank you so much!! Anywho, I just looked at the back of my vanilla extract and there's sugar in it? Is there a certain kind that doesn't?
Thank you Amanda! You're best bet is to look at a health store like whole Foods or online. I buy through iherb.com, here's link: http://www.iherb.com/Simply-Organic-Madagascar-Pure-Vanilla-Extract-4-fl-oz-118-ml/31341 and I have a discount code you can use. YAJ035.
awesome thank you!
People usually add just too much milk to this drink, so coffee taste is completely lost. I like the fact that you use one and a half cup. Looks delicious and it is healthy. Great work!
Thanks for this! I just brought a quart of my moms good strong coffee home with the intention of making iced coffee. I hate to see the coffee thrown out and had good sense today to save it! Can't wait to make this but have to use coconut milk (not the canned)! You ARE awesome!!
This is a great idea! And so easy.
In place of dairy whipped cream, you can chill coconut cream (the stuff that rises to the top of a can of coconut milk) and add some coconut sugar (I think a liquid sugar like agave would make it too liquid to whip). Whip it up. Oh my goodness. Whipped cream that's not whipped cream but is whipped cream!
Yes I have made it as whipped cream with a recipe, very yummy!
This is just how I make my iced coffee only I add a few drops of english toffee liquid Stevia drops. Hot and humid here in MN too!
Can I use a different sweetener? I want to make this but I don't have the liquid sweetener it calls for.
Yes, whatever sweetener you like but whatever you choose will change the nutrition info.
What do suggest besides the liquid stuff? ;))
Can you use Sweetleaf Liquid Stevia in place of the NuNaturals? Is there alcohol in the Sweetleaf products? I never noticed. THANKS AGAIN, for you amazing recipes. I TRULY appreciate it! (I think that you should've gotten 1st place on the blog contest, but 3rd isn't too shabby.)
Thanks Melissa! Yes I love all sweetleaf stevia but I really like the Nunaturals vanilla too. That is the only one of their brands they have that is alcohol free though so I don't use any of there other kinds.

That sounds great! I have almond milk on hand so I'll be trying it out!
But almond milk is 35 calories a serving..
My unsweetened almond milk is 40 calories for 1 cup. This recipe is for 2, not 1. Also, I am only using 1/2 cup almond milk for the whole recipe.
I understand that. Then if the serving is for two then the frapp is not just 12 calories. The almond milk is 40 by itself. I'm confused????
The almond milk is 20 calories for the whole recipe since we are only using 1/2 cup. Then that is divided into 2 servings which is 10 calories.
I feel silly. I get it. Sorry. LOL!!
It's been a long day with 4 kids. But ya I tried it and it is pretty good. I will switch to this new drink. Think you. U are awesome:)
No worries Vanessa! Been there some days myself! Thank you!
What is the best eay to make iced coffee?
Just brew coffee as you normally would or even a bit stronger then refrigerate. That's it then follow my recipe for the frappe.
I have never had ice coffee, but this sure sounds good. I am trying this since we do have almond milk on hand, Thanks!! NO POINTS!!! Yeh!!!!!
Can you just serve it over ice?
Yes you could, but for me the almond milk just doesn't work in my regular coffee unless I blend the ice and make it like this frappe.
I'm like that too when I use almond milk. Even if I drink just a glass of almond milk I need to put ice in it. I find if I do, it calms the almond flavour down and tastes a lot closer to normal milk.
Thanks so much for sharing this! I love coffee, but when I add tons of cream and sugar I have to decide if I want to part with some of my WW points for the day. Thanks!
You're welcome! The amount of cream I was putting in my ice coffee was ridiculous, I had to do something about it, LOL!

Seriously??? 12 Cals thats it??? I'm hooked just with that! But the fact that 12 cals can taste good...I'm totally SOLD!
hahaha I know! I couldn't believe it when I figured it out. You see I make recipes first and if its good THEN figure out the calories so i was pretty happy with this one!
