Low Carb Keto Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Sugar Free Low Carb Keto Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate!
Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe
If youโve ever wandered into a coffee shop during the holiday seasonโStarbucks, Dunkinโ, or your favorite cozy local spotโyouโve probably seen those festive signs forย Frozen Hot Chocolateย orย Peppermint Mochaย drinks.
Theyโre frothy, chocolatey, and crowned with a swirl of whipped cream. Tempting, right?
But if youโre living aย sugar-free,ย low-carb, orย keto dietย lifestyle, you already know that those coffee shop versions are loaded with sugar, artificial syrups, and enough carbs to knock you out of ketosis before you finish your cup.
Thatโs exactly why I decided to create my ownย Sugar Free Low Carb Keto Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolateโa rich, creamy, satisfying drink made withย simple ingredients,ย no added sugar, and all the indulgent chocolate flavor you crave.
And this version includes one secret ingredient that changes everything:ย cottage cheese.
Why Cottage Cheese?
You might not think to putย cottage cheeseย in a frozen hot chocolate, but trust meโitโs the game changer. It adds a thick, creamy texture while packing in protein to keep you satisfied.
Itโs one of my favoriteย low-carb optionsย for boosting protein and balancing macros in myย Midlife Macro Methodโขย recipes.
The cottage cheese blends completely smooth, giving you that milkshake-like texture without needing ice cream or added thickeners.
Simple Ingredients for the Perfect Frozen Hot Chocolate
You only need a handful ofย low-carb, keto-friendly ingredientsโall of which you probably already have on hand if you follow a sugar-free lifestyle:
- Unsweetened cocoa powderย โ for that deep chocolate flavor
- Unsweetened almond milkย orย heavy creamย โ for creaminess (use full-fat for a thicker texture or almond milk for fewer calories)
- Full-fat cottage cheeseย โ adds creaminess and protein
- Peppermint extractย โ just a drop adds that cool, refreshingย peppermint twist
- Your favorite low-carb sweetenerย โ I love using stevia, but you can use monk fruit, erythritol, or an allulose blend
- Ice cubesย โ for that frozen, milkshake-like consistency
- Whipped creamย โ because itโs the holidays, and you deserve it
Thatโs itโjustย 6 simple ingredientsย that turn into the richest, most refreshingย keto peppermint frozen drinkย ever.
Coffee Shop Envy Meets Kitchen Creativity
Being sugar-free for over 12 years now, Iโve never actually had one of those frozen hot chocolates.
Do I feel like Iโm missing out? Not one bit.
Sure, sometimes I see someone walking out of a coffee shop with a tall, icy drink topped with whipped cream, and thereโs a flicker of frozen-drink envy. But that feeling disappears fastโbecause I know how awful it feels to be ruled by cravings. Iโve been there. The highs, the crashes, the endless cycle of just one more.
Now, when those cravings pop up, I turn them into creative inspiration. Instead of giving in, I head to my kitchen to craft my own versionโsomething that fits my low-carb lifestyle, supports my metabolism, and still tastes like a holiday treat.
Even my kids love this one! They call it โChristmas in a cup.โ
When I serve it in festive mugs topped with whipped cream, no one misses the sugar. Itโs become one of our favorite winter treatsโespecially after sledding or watching a movie by the fireplace.
And honestly? Itโs just as good as any version youโd get from aย coffee shop, without the sugar crash or the $6 price tag.
To me, being sugar-free isnโt about deprivationโitโs aboutย empowerment.
When you can make delicious,ย low-carb recipesย like this at home, youโll never feel deprived or left out again. Instead, youโll feelย in control.
Frozen Hot Chocolate might seem like a small thing, but these little wins are what make aย sugar-free lifestyle sustainable. You donโt need motivation when your taste buds and metabolism both thank you for it.
So grab your blender, yourย favorite sweetener, and thatย peppermint extract, and give this a try today. Youโll never look at coffee-shop drinks the same way again.
Tips for the Best Texture and Flavor
- For an ultra-creamy consistency, use a mix ofย heavy whipping creamย andย unsweetened almond milk.
- Want a dairy-free option? Tryย coconut creamย instead of heavy cream.
- Adjust sweetness to tasteโdifferentย low-carb sweetenersย vary in strength.
- Add a fewย sugar-free chocolate chipsย on top for extra decadence.
- For a winter-wonderland touch, add crushedย keto peppermint candiesย or a drizzle ofย sugar-free chocolate syrup.

Why Make This Instead of Buying It?
Because you control the ingredients.
At coffee shops, even โsugar-freeโ versions can hide carbs in syrups, whipped cream, or milk. Making your own at home means you know exactly whatโs going into your mugโno mystery sweeteners or artificial junk.
You can also adjust it to your preferences:
- Want extra richness? Add moreย heavy cream.
- Need it lighter? Use moreย unsweetened almond milk.
- Love thatย minty kick? Add a few extra drops ofย peppermint extract.
This recipe proves that indulgence and health donโt have to be opposites. You can enjoy every sip of chocolatey, frosty goodness while staying true to yourย sugar-free lifestyleย andย keto dietย goals.

How is this frozen?
I am confusedโฆ there is a recipe with cottage cheese and no measurements and the one with protein powder. I have all the ingredients for the first recipe, but not for the 2nd. I would like to make the one I have the ingredients for. What am I missing? Is the 1st recipe a mistake?
I’m not sure what you are looking at, all the measurements for this recipe are right above your comment in the printable recipe card. It has cottage cheese and chocolate protein powder.
Is the protein powder from organic cows? Otherwise the grass could have been sprayed with pesticides and the cows could have rGBH hormones in it.
Sounds delicious! Gimmie a straw!
I love the Les Mills workouts…I’ve got to try this protein powder next! This looks delicious!

Everytime I go to starbucks, I get a little bit envious of people who order the iced lattees and macchiatos while I order a black coffee, not gonna lie! I love that this frozen drink is sugar-free, meaning I can enjoy it without having my blood sugar spike! Chocolate and peppermint is the best combo by far !
