Low Carb Watermelon Slushie
I don’t know about your kids, but all mine want on a hot day in the summer is cold, frozen TREATS!!
With just 3 simple ingredients, this healthy watermelon slushie is the perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day.
Making use of a ripe watermelon that might not have been the sweetest one I picked, is why this recipe a winner!

Low Carb Keto Sweeteners
You can make this with or without a natural sweetener since a ripe watermelon often provides enough natural sweetness all on its own.
I use low carb and keto sweeteners that don’t spike your blood sugar.
Use my Sweetener Guide & Conversion Chart if you want to change out the sweetener I used.
Using a seedless watermelon makes it quite easy to blend up, but if not, just cut up the watermelon into pieces and pick out those seeds before blending.
As long as you have a good high powered blender or even a food processor this is a perfect drink and the quickest way to fend off the kids when they are asking for something in the afternoon.
Tips for the Best Slushie Texture
For the best slushy texture, start with very cold ingredients. If you have time, freeze your cubed watermelon or frozen watermelon cubes for a few hours before blending. Using frozen watermelon chunks creates an even thicker, frostier drink and means you’ll need less ice.
If you only have fresh watermelon, simply add the ice listed in the recipe card and blend until smooth. A high-powered blender or food processor makes quick work of the ice and creates that perfect frozen consistency everyone loves.
If you’d like to prep ahead, freeze extra watermelon in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer the frozen cubes to an ice cube tray or freezer bag for your next batch.

Watermelon Wine Slushie
Not only is this a tasty treat by the pool when the kids have friends over, adults will enjoy it too!
You could make it boozy slushies by adding in some white wine or tequila for adult only alcoholic drinks, if you prefer.
For adults, this recipe also makes a delicious watermelon cocktail. Add a splash of white rum, tequila, or even dry white wine to turn this frozen treat into one of your favorite skinny cocktails for summer entertaining.
For a lighter version, top each serving with club soda for a bubbly finish. It’s the perfect drink for sitting by the pool, enjoying a backyard cookout, or winding down after a long hot day.
It’s easy, it’s super quick and no cooking or heating the kitchen is required. That’s what I call a slam dunk in this business!

Ingredient Tips
Choose a ripe watermelon with deep color and plenty of juice for the best flavor. I always recommend using seedless watermelon, but if yours has large seeds, simply remove them before blending.
Freshly squeezed fresh lime juice adds brightness and balances the sweetness beautifully, though lemon juice also works if that’s what you have on hand.
A handful of fresh mint or even a small sprig of mint makes a beautiful garnish and adds an extra refreshing finish.

Brenda’s Notes:
Recipe card below shows a total of 36 ounces. I divided servings into 6 but you could divide into 4 drink servings and each person would have 9 ounces.
If you don’t have watermelon stevia, berry stevia or clear stevia would work as well. Or just use your favorite sweetener of choice to taste. Always start with a small amount and adjust if needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I freeze watermelon ahead of time?
Yes! Cut your fresh watermelon into cubes and freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag or ice cube tray. Frozen watermelon creates the best slushie texture and makes this recipe even colder.
Do I need sweetener?
Not always. If your ripe watermelon is naturally sweet, you may not need any sweetener at all. Taste after blending and add your favorite keto sweeteners only if needed.
Can I make this without a blender?
A high-powered blender works best, but a sturdy food processor can also create a delicious frozen slushie.
Is watermelon keto?
Watermelon contains more natural sugar than berries, but enjoyed in moderation it can absolutely fit into a low carb or keto diet. This recipe keeps portions reasonable while still delivering incredible watermelon flavor.
