2 Ingredient Sugar Free Dairy Free Keto Chocolate Mousse

This easy 2 Ingredient Sugar-Free, Dairy Free, Keto Chocolate Mousse recipe is a quick and easy fat bomb in a cup! Just 5 net grams of carbs.

2 Ingredient Sugar Free Chocolate Keto Mousse

This is the easiest sugar-free, dairy free, low carb chocolate mousse keto recipe for any weeknight treat or fat bomb snack using healthy fats, anytime of day!

Just 2 simple ingredients you probably already have in your keto pantry and just a few minutes of your time in the kitchen. Recipe card with instructions and nutrition facts is located below.

The hardest part will be waiting for it to set and thicken in the fridge or you can enjoy immediately for a more pudding like consistency.

This recipe was adapted from my 4 Ingredient Mocha Mousse. I decided to remove the coffee since this recipe was more for my kiddos and they don't really like coffee. I also wanted it dairy free for my daughter who needs to be dairy free, but I need and want, easy keto desserts in my life that curb my sweet tooth.

Since traditional chocolate mousse has way too many grams of carbs and sugar, it wouldn't be something I'd eat on my ketogenic diet.

But this quick and easy creamy keto chocolate mousse recipe is a perfect low carb dessert that is sure to please the chocolate lovers and even those who aren't on a keto diet!

What Kind of Canned Coconut Milk is Best

There are many varieties of canned coconut milk. Some contain guar gum and some do not. I have found that especially making any kind of dessert that requires it to thicken, using a can of coconut milk with guar gum is essential.

Some canned coconut milk brands produce more "cream" than water when refrigerated.

The brands I like that yield the most coconut cream, anywhere from 6.5 ounces to 7.5 ounces is the Native Forest brand and the Thai Kitchen brand. You can also purchase just canned coconut cream, but make sure no sweetener is added.

This recipe will not work with low fat coconut milk or a carton of coconut milk sold in the refrigerated section.

Tools to Make Easy Keto Chocolate Mousse

Hand Electric Mixer or Stand Mixer-Either mixer will do to make this mousse thick and creamy!

Large Mixing Bowl-Use over a saucepan of boiling water to melt the chocolate or melt chocolate in your microwave.

Silicone Spatula-Perfect set of a variety of different sizes for any dessert or any recipe that requires some mixing.

2 Ingredient Sugar Free Dairy Free Keto Chocolate Mousse

    Servings: 4 @ 2.5 ounces each
    Calories: 194kcal

    Ingredients

    • 6.5 ounce canned coconut milk full fat, cream only equals about 6.5 ounces
    • 3.5 ounces sugar free chocolate chips

    Optional

    • Liquid chocolate monk fruit or sweetener of choice

    Instructions

    • Without shaking the can (13.5 ounce) of coconut milk, place in the refrigerator overnight. This will allow the cream to rise to the top of the can. When ready to make the mousse, remove the can from the refrigerator and flip it upside down. This will allow the watery coconut milk to easily be removed from the can. Open the can and discard or save the coconut water from the can for a smoothie. Scoop out the chilled coconut cream into a stand mixer bowl or medium bowl if using a hand mixer.
    • Place the chocolate chips in a glass bowl and melt over a double boiler or in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir until smooth.
    • Add the melted chocolate to the mixer and use the whisk attachment to blend the ingredients together until smooth. Taste and decide if you need to add a sweetener of choice. Enjoy immediately or place in serving glasses and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or overnight which will allow the mixture to set and thicken.

    Notes

    5 Net Carbs
If you don't like really thick, fudge like mousse you can add 1-2tbsp of the coconut water to the mixer and your mousse won't thicken as much when refrigerated.

Can I put the coconut milk in the freezer for a quicker prep time?

That might work though I've not tried it myself. Please come back and let me know how long you had it in the freezer.

This is NOT dairy free! The chocolate chips (linked) contain milk butterfat.
Other brands of vegan dairy free chips contain sugar. Read ALL ingredients on all your purchases before trusting a website recipe

I ordered the chocolate monkfruit drops. Approximately how much do you use in the chocolate mousse.

I used a teaspoon but you could start with just 1/2 tsp, taste it and decide if you need more before you refrigerate it.

      Hi Brenda,
I cannot wait to try this. I do have a question regarding dairy free recipes. I am wanting to make this for work for Boss's Day. But one of the bosses had a baby 4 months ago. She found out that her baby is allergic to dairy. So due to breasts feeding, she has to be careful with food she can eat.
Is this a safe recipe for her to enjoy at our Boss's Day brunch? I really want to take something she can also enjoy.

      Thank you for your help.

Yes coconut milk is dairy free and just check the sugar free chocolate chips because some do not have good sweeteners which can cause GI distress, so that is why I always buy Lily's brand since it does not contain those terrible sweeteners.

My husband made this recipe for guests last night! It was well-loved! He did have problems with the chocolate chips not melting but hardening in the microwave so he used 2T dark cocoa powder with 2T coconut milk liquid, adding a little Pyre sweetener. Not sure how much. Anyway he doubled the recipe and it turned out perfectly!! Lots of sugar free people at the table of 8, so the dessert was a big hit! Thank you so much! Shared the recipe already!

Hi Brenda. We have tried this recipe three times and two of those times the melted chocolate did not integrate well and was lumpy or had tiny lumps. We used a whisk vigorously. (we only have food processors and no automatic mixers) Are we doing something wrong? Either way, it was delicious all three times! Appreciate some advice! Thank you.

Hi Robert, I had the same issue as you - small lumps of unincorporated chocolate. I noticed them when I was whisking the chocolate into the coconut milk/cream and figured that maybe the coconut was too cold from being in the fridge. So... I put the bowl with the chocolate/coconut mixture in the microwave - heated it for 20 seconds - took it out and whisked the crud out of it - heated it again for 15 seconds - took it out and whisked the crud out of it again. It worked! The lumps disappeared and it was smooth as silk. Have to say, it is amazing! Didn't last two days at my house - will be making it again! -- Stacci

If you click the link to the sugar free chocolate chips within the ingredients of the recipe, that is exactly what I used and linked to.

Can I use cocoa powder + coconut oil instead of the sugar free chocolate chips?

I've not tested it out so not sure if it would be dry using the same amount of cocoa powder as chocolate chips.

      Brenda,
Thank you for creating this delicious dessert. I served it with a topping of fresh blueberries. I was so tempted to eat a second helping. My husband stopped me, thank goodness, so now we have something to look forward to tomorrow. Who would’ve thought that such a simple recipe could taste so good?

The Native Forest Coconut Milk above links to one with NO guar gum, which I thought this needed. Is there a different Native Forest product that you mean? Thank you! This looks delicious!
